CHAPTER SEVEN
Why Hugs Are Hard
MILO LIKED PEOPLE.
Milo loved love.
But hugs? Hugs were… tricky.
Sometimes they came too fast.
Sometimes they squeezed too tight.
Sometimes they felt like thunder in his skin.
It wasn’t that he didn’t care.
It wasn’t that he didn’t want to be close.
It just felt like a lot—
all at once—
everywhere.

A fist bump.
A high five.
A quiet sit, shoulder to shoulder.
Love doesn’t have to be loud.
It just has to be real.
And Milo’s love was as real as it gets.
