CHAPTER NINE
The Day the Colors Froze
SOME DAYS, THE colors didn’t move.
They didn’t swirl or shift or shimmer.
They just… stopped.
Milo stared at the sky,
waiting for the kaleidoscope to turn.
But everything felt still.
Gray.
Heavy.
He didn’t flap.
He didn’t speak.
He barely blinked.
It wasn’t that he was sad.
It wasn’t that he was mad.
It was just that everything was… stuck.
His mom sat with him on the floor.
Didn’t ask questions.
Didn’t make noise.
She just handed him his softest blanket
and let him be still.
Even when the colors freeze,
Milo is still Milo.
And sometimes, stillness is a kind of healing.
