CHAPTER TEN

The Word Puzzle

MILO HAD SO many thoughts.
Bright ones. Loud ones.
Fast and tangled like a kite in the wind.
But turning those thoughts into words?
That was the hard part.

He knew what he wanted to say.
He always knew.
But the words came out jumbled.
Too loud.
Too soft.
Or sometimes… not at all.

It wasn’t that he didn’t understand.
It wasn’t that he didn’t care.
It was just a puzzle.

Some people solved words with their mouths.
Milo solved them with his eyes,
his hands,
his heart.

And the people who took the time—
the ones who looked past the silence—
they saw just how brilliant the puzzle really was.
