CHAPTER TEN
The Tikis and the Waves that Ripped
ALOHA.
THERE’S A strange kind of peace that hits when you touch down somewhere tropical. Maybe it’s the smell of salt in the air, or the weight of mainland stress melting off your shoulders the second your flip-flops hit sand. For the Mystery Inc. gang, though, paradise always comes with a plot twist.
They were invited to Hawaii, or more specifically, to the island of Hanahuna, by an old friend. A surf contest, a luau, and a little R&R. That was the idea. But from the moment they arrived, things were off.
Locals whispered about ancient spirits. There were sightings of the Wiki-Tiki, a volcanic demon straight out of island legend. Statues moved when no one was looking. Footprints appeared in solid rock. And tourists? Tourists were vanishing. One by one.
Fred, as always, tried to stick to the facts. Daphne was focused on connecting with the locals and understanding the culture. Velma was knee-deep in researching the myths and decoding ancient symbols. Shaggy and Scooby? They just wanted a snack.
But even Shaggy knew something wasn’t right. “Like, dude… those footprints don’t just happen, man.”
As the gang dove deeper, what they uncovered wasn’t just a spooky spirit story. It was a full-blown land dispute. Greedy developers were trying to scare the locals off Hanahuna to turn the island into a resort. They dressed up as ancient monsters, played sound effects through hidden speakers, and used Hollywood-grade props. All to make the islanders believe their home was cursed.
But you can’t fake a legend forever. Not when Mystery Inc. is on the case.
They unraveled the whole scheme with classic Scooby style. Fred set the trap, Scooby and Shaggy triggered it (by accident, of course), and Velma made the reveal. The culprits were unmasked. The locals kept their land. And the spirit of Hanahuna? Still very much alive.
That night, as the waves kissed the shore and the luau fires burned, Fred and Daphne shared a dance under the stars. Velma jotted her notes. Shaggy and Scooby ate their weight in pineapple pizza.
Because sometimes, paradise isn't just a place. It’s a mystery solved. A people protected. A truth uncovered.
And in the end?
Scooby-Doo surfed.
