What the Guru Granth Sahib Actually Says
Chapter Nine - Death Is Not the End

CHAPTER NINE
Death Is Not the End
SO HERE’S THE thing.
You’re gonna die.
That’s not a threat or a punishment; it’s just a fact.
The body doesn’t last. The breath doesn’t last. The world doesn’t last.
And the Guru doesn’t pretend otherwise.
But what it does say, again and again, is that death isn’t the end.
The body dies.
But the soul?
The soul keeps going.
The Guru calls the body a costume. A robe. A temporary house.
It’s made of the five elements. You borrow it for a little while, then you give it back.
That’s it.
The problem isn’t death.
The problem is dying asleep.
Because if you die without remembering the One, if you’re still stuck in ego, still chasing maya, and still clinging to “mine,” then you’re not done yet. You’re not free. You keep spinning.
The Granth says: “The body returns to dust, but the soul carries its account.”
“Those who remember the Naam are not afraid of death.”
“The prepared soul merges. The unprepared soul wanders.”
So the question isn’t will you die, it’s how.
Will you die clinging?
Or will you die clear?
The way you prepare isn’t through superstition or rituals or fear.
It’s through remembrance.
The Naam is what makes you ready.
Not because it scores you spiritual points, because it unites you with the One.
And once that happens, death isn’t exile.
It’s return.
You don’t go anywhere. You merge.
Back into the Sound. Back into the Source. Back into what you were before your name, your story, and your face.
The drop goes home.
The Guru says the ones who live truthfully, sing the Word, and walk with the Naam don’t even fear death.
They see through it.
They know it’s just the end of a shift.
A release. A return.
And those who don’t stay tangled in ego, desire, and illusion.
They don’t get punished. They just… keep going.
Another life. Another loop. Another chance.
The soul is eternal.
But the illusion doesn’t let go easy.
So the choice is now.
Live remembering.
Die clear.
Merge.
That’s what the Granth says.
Not some fiery hell.
Not some gated paradise.
Just union. Or repetition.
Either way, it’s up to you.
