CHAPTER SIXTEEN
Faith and Food
ARJUNA ASKS:
“WHAT about people who worship with faith, but not by the book?”
“Does their faith still count?”
Krishna says:
“It depends on the person.”
There are three kinds of faith.
Just like everything else.
Sattvic faith is pure.
It leads to truth, balance, and peace.
These people worship the divine and live with discipline.
Rajasic faith is fiery.
It leads to ambition, pride, and show.
These people worship for reward.
To feel powerful.
Tamasic faith is dark.
It leads to superstition, chaos, and fear.
These people worship spirits and ghosts.
And hurt themselves or others.
Even food reflects this.
Sattvic food is fresh.
Simple. Full of life.
It strengthens body and mind.
Rajasic food is spicy and bitter.
Too hot, too salty.
It creates tension and craving.
Tamasic food is stale.
Rotten, lifeless, leftover.
It dulls the mind and poisons the body.
The same goes for sacrifice, discipline, and giving.
Each can be done in clarity, in ego, or in ignorance.
Krishna says:
“The right way is this.
Do all things as an offering.
With love.
Without attachment.”
