What the Bhagavad Gita Actually Says

Chapter Eleven - The Yoga of Devotion

CHAPTER ELEVEN

The Yoga of Devotion

ARJUNA ASKS KRISHNA a question.

“What’s better?
To worship a personal God, or to meditate on the formless?”

Krishna says both are valid.
But it’s far harder to fix your mind on the formless.
It’s abstract. Unseen. Unknowable.

People need form.
They need something to love.

So Krishna says:
“Fix your mind on Me.
Be devoted.
Live for Me.
You’ll reach Me.”

But He’s not rigid.
If you can’t meditate, practice.
If you can’t practice, work in devotion.
If you can’t do that, at least act without attachment.
Just don’t give up.

He then describes the one who is dear to Him.

The true devotee.

Calm in pain and joy.
Kind to all.
Detached.
Steady.
Pure-hearted.
Unaffected by praise or blame.
Strong in love, but free from hate.

This person doesn’t worship out of fear.
They walk with peace, and burn with trust.

And Krishna says:
“Such a one is truly Mine.”
