CHAPTER SIX
Muslims
IF YOU SAY you are a Muslim, here’s what that means.
You believe in one God, Allah. Eternal, indivisible, all-powerful, and all-knowing.
No partners. No sons. No equals.
Strict monotheism. Tawhid.
You believe Muhammad is the final prophet.
Not just a prophet, the last one.
The seal of the prophets.
Sent to restore the true message of Islam after Jews and Christians corrupted it.
You believe the Quran is the literal word of God, dictated to Muhammad through the angel Gabriel.
Perfect. Flawless. In Arabic.
It was not written by Muhammad.
It was revealed, memorized, compiled, and preserved.
You believe in the Five Pillars of Islam:
- Shahada: The testimony of faith. There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is his messenger.
- Salat: Five daily prayers, facing Mecca.
- Zakat: Mandatory almsgiving, usually 2.5% of wealth.
- Sawm: Fasting during the month of Ramadan.
- Hajj: Pilgrimage to Mecca, at least once in your life if able.
You believe in the Day of Judgment.
Heaven (Jannah) and Hell (Jahannam) are real.
Your deeds are weighed.
Your faith is judged.
Your intentions matter.
But so does obedience.
You believe Jesus (Isa) was a prophet. Born of a virgin, performed miracles, and will return before the end of time.
But He was not the Son of God.
He was not crucified.
And He is not divine.
You believe in previous scriptures like the Torah, Psalms, and Gospel, but only in their original forms, now considered corrupted.
You believe the Quran replaces them as the final revelation.
You believe in angels.
You believe in predestination.
You believe in Jinn, unseen beings made of smokeless fire who have free will like humans.
You believe Satan was a Jinn who rebelled and now leads others astray.
You believe in modesty.
You believe alcohol and pork are forbidden (haram).
You believe in daily ritual cleanliness.
You pray in Arabic.
You fast from sunrise to sunset during Ramadan.
You avoid interest.
You follow dietary laws (halal).
And you live by Sharia, divine law.
Depending on where you fall, Sunni or Shia, you may differ on leadership, authority, or interpretations.
But the core remains:
The Quran is true.
Muhammad was real.
The afterlife is coming.
And obedience matters.
You are part of the Ummah, the global community of Muslims.
You face Mecca.
You recite the same verses.
You submit to the same God.
And submission, Islam, is the point.
