CHAPTER TWO

The Storm and the River

SO BOOM, RIGHT when Pip thought he was just gonna sit there and vibe for, like, another 200 years, the sky flipped the script.

First, the clouds got all dark and angry, like somebody unplugged the sun.
Then the wind was like, “WOOOOOOOOSH” and even the big boulders were like, “uh-oh.”

Pip?
Pip was just sitting there like, “What’s happening? Why do I feel like I’m on the teacup ride at the fair?”

Then came the rain.
Not a soft little sprinkle like “hello, I’m here to make your grass shiny.”
Nope.
It was full-on splash attack. Like the clouds dumped all their water in one big WHOOSH.

And that’s when Pip started to roll.
At first it was like “wheee!”
Then it was like “whoaaaa!”
Then it was like “AHHHHHHH!”

Down, down, down Big Mountain he went.
Bouncing off roots.
Spinning through mud.
Skipping over sticks like “I’m not even supposed to be here!”

Finally, SPLASH.
Pip landed in a river.
Not just any river. The Great Whispering River.

Why was it called that?
Because the water never shut up.
It was always whispering things like:

“go with the flow…”
“the journey matters…”
“don’t eat gas station sushi…”

Okay, that last one might’ve been Pip’s imagination.
But you get the point.

Pip floated along, nervous but excited.
He had no idea where the river would take him.
But he had a feeling this was just the start.

And deep, deep down, Pip smiled.
Because finally… after all that waiting…
Pip’s adventure had begun.
