CHAPTER NINE

The Second Flood

PIP AND BUMBLE had barely taken a step forward when the sky darkened again.
Thick, heavy clouds gathered faster than ever before.

RUMBLE… CRACK… BOOOOOM!

A wall of water came rushing down the mountain, a roaring flood like a liquid beast!
It surged and twisted, ready to swallow everything in its path.

Pip gasped.
The mountain’s secrets were supposed to be at the top, not washed away!

“PIP, HOLD ON!” Bumble yelled, grabbing Pip with his stubby paws.
But the force was too strong.
The current yanked Pip from Bumble’s grip.

Pip was swept away, tumbling and spinning through the cold, wild flood.

As Pip struggled, he suddenly realized…
he wasn’t sinking.

The water wasn’t drowning him.
It was lifting him.

Up, up, up… carried on the back of the flood.
As if the mountain itself had one last test.

Pip blinked.
The water… was taking him straight to the summit.
The flood was the path all along.

The wind whispered, almost laughing,
“The thing you feared most… was actually your way forward.”

As the flood faded into mist, Pip gently rolled onto solid ground.
The peak of the mountain stretched wide before him.

There it was.
The final destination.
The truth.
The real twist.

Bumble scrambled up behind him, drenched and panting.
“You’ve gotta be kidding me,” Bumble huffed, shaking off water.
“A second flood? Are you kidding? That was crazy.”

Pip laughed, the weight of the journey finally making sense.
“Yeah… crazy. But perfect.”

The last chapter and the ultimate secret awaited.
