CHAPTER ELEVEN
Still Running
TODAY, WE LIVE under governments that promise religious freedom, cultural tolerance, and rule of law.
It feels modern.
It feels enlightened.
But the source code?
It’s Cyrus.
The Cyrus Cylinder is displayed in the British Museum, the United Nations, and replicas gifted to world leaders
Why?
Because it’s hailed as the first human rights document.
But here’s the truth:
Cyrus didn’t care about rights.
He cared about order.
Religious tolerance? Prevent rebellion.
Freedom of movement? Happy subjects pay taxes.
Local customs respected? Empire without friction.
It was obedience disguised as liberation.
Today, rulers don’t demand worship.
They promise freedom, justice, and choice.
But they still collect tribute (taxes).
They enforce loyalty (laws).
They control narratives (media).
And they reward obedience with privileges, not rights.
It’s not tyranny.
It’s compliance through consent.
Just like Cyrus.
He didn’t invent empire.
He perfected peaceful empire, domination that doesn’t feel like domination.
And once people believe they’re free, they stop resisting.
