CHAPTER FIVE
Judaism - The Star and the Candles
IT BEGAN WITH a promise.
To a man with no map, no compass, just faith.
Leave everything you know, and I will show you who you are.
Abraham walked.
And the journey began.
Judaism is not just a religion.
It’s a memory carried forward.
It’s questions asked around dinner tables.
It’s candles lit in defiance of darkness.
They don’t forget.
Not the Exodus.
Not the exile.
Not the pain.
Not the promise.
To wrestle with God is not rebellion, it’s tradition.
To study, to question, to argue with love.
It’s a relationship, not a rulebook.
It’s a dialogue still in progress.
The Torah is a scroll of breath and ink.
But the real stories live in the people.
In the songs that survive.
In the prayers that hold the weight of history.
They’ve seen kingdoms rise and fall.
Been scattered and gathered again.
And still, every Friday night, they pause.
They set the table.
They light the candles.
They remember.
Because even when the world forgets, they don’t.
