CHAPTER THIRTEEN
Dinosaurs, Hypnosis, and One Hell of a Scream
YOU EVER SEEN Shaggy go feral?
No, like really feral?
This is the one where the whole game flipped. You take one part ancient legend, one part mind-control therapy, one part desert science town, and suddenly you're staring down ghost dinosaurs and an unchained Shaggy Rogers with hands rated E for Everyone.
It starts simple: Shaggy has a panic attack. Real one. He’s shaking, heart pounding, and everyone says he needs rest. So they take him to a wellness retreat in the middle of the desert. That’s when the Phantosaur shows up. A ghost dinosaur. Yeah.
But here’s the twist: the retreat doctor tries hypnotherapy. Tells Shaggy, “Any time you feel fear, you’ll become fearless.”
And it works.
Shaggy goes full martial arts action hero. One-liners. Spin kicks. He literally takes down a biker gang solo. Fred, Velma, and Daphne just watch him do it, stunned.
Meanwhile, the town they’re in is crawling with secrets. There are shady scientists, underground caverns, and a fossil worth millions. The Phantosaur isn’t real, of course. It's a hologram. A ruse to scare people off the dig site while crooks try to steal the treasure.
But by the end, Shaggy’s unlocked something. He’s still himself, but there’s power under the surface. Not because of the hypnosis. Because he believed it was real. He stopped running. For once, he stood still.
This one’s about facing your fear, even if it’s wrapped in a twenty-foot translucent velociraptor.
And Scooby? Scooby stood right by him. That’s how they win.
Like always.
