CHAPTER TEN

The End of the Line

THE PROPHET REACHED Medina.
This time, he wasn’t just a messenger.
He was a leader.

The believers grew.
The hypocrites whispered.
The enemies circled.
The verses kept coming.

But they changed.

Now came laws.
Now came battles.
Now came victory.

And with that, the message neared its end.

One of the final revelations came in a surah called Victory.

“When the victory of God comes, and the conquest, and you see people entering the religion in crowds — then glorify your Lord, seek His forgiveness. He is always accepting of repentance.”
(110:1–3)

It sounds like celebration.
It’s actually a farewell.

The Prophet understood.
His mission was almost done.
Near the end of his life, another verse came.

“This day I have perfected your religion for you, completed My favor upon you, and chosen submission (Islam) as your way.”
(5:3)

No more books.
No more prophets.
No more messengers.

The door is closed.

Anyone claiming to bring a new revelation after this is a liar.

The Prophet gave a final sermon.
He stood before the people.
He told them:

Listen to me, I may not be with you after this year.
Treat each other with justice.
Do not return to ignorance.
No one is superior to another except by righteousness.
Protect women.
Worship God.
Pray.
Fast.
Give charity.

Then he said,
“Have I delivered the message?”

They said yes.

He said, “O God, bear witness.”

Then he told them: “Pass this on. Even if it’s one verse.”

Not long after, he died.
Buried where he lived.
No graveyard or monument.
Just a room.

The people wept.
The revelation stopped.

The book was complete.

But it didn’t fade.
It didn’t die with him.

It was memorized.
Written.
Preserved.

And it said:

“Muhammad is not the father of any of your men, but he is the Messenger of God and the seal of the prophets.”
(33:40)

This is the end of the line.

No more messengers.
No more warnings.
Just the book.
