CHAPTER FOUR
Evangelicals
IF YOU SAY you are an Evangelical, here’s what that means.
You believe in the Bible as the literal, inerrant word of God.
No metaphors. No historical footnotes.
Genesis is history. Revelation is prophecy.
Everything in between is absolute truth. Dictated by God, recorded by men.
You believe Jesus is the only way to be saved.
You believe salvation comes from accepting Him personally, often by “asking Him into your heart.”
You believe you are born sinful, and that salvation is a free gift.
Not earned. Not bought. Just received by faith.
You believe in being “born again.”
A personal relationship with Christ.
A conscious decision. A moment of transformation.
It’s not just about going to church, it’s about knowing Jesus.
You believe in the Great Commission, that it’s your duty to spread the gospel.
You believe those who don’t accept Jesus, including Jews, Muslims, Hindus, and atheists, are going to Hell.
You believe in the end times.
Jesus is coming back. Soon.
There will be a rapture. Or a tribulation. Or both.
Depending on your timeline, the faithful will vanish, the world will fall into chaos, the Antichrist will rise, and Jesus will return to rule for 1,000 years.
There will be a final judgment.
The saved go to Heaven.
The rest burn.
You believe Satan is real.
You believe demons are real.
You believe spiritual warfare is happening right now.
You believe prayer can shift events in the world, politics, and your personal life.
You may attend a megachurch.
Or a small-town Bible chapel.
But the markers are the same:
Worship bands. Pastors in sneakers.
Sermons about personal growth, sin, family, and culture wars.
A Bible in your hand.
And a worldview shaped by Sunday school, not seminaries.
You believe in creation, often Young Earth.
You believe the Earth is about 6,000 years old.
You reject evolution.
You believe dinosaurs and humans coexisted.
You may believe Noah’s Ark was literal.
And that the Flood reshaped the planet.
You likely believe America has a role in God’s plan.
That it was founded on Christian principles.
That it’s under attack by secularism.
You likely oppose abortion, gay marriage, and trans rights. Not just politically, but morally.
You likely vote Republican.
Not because Jesus did, but because that’s where the platform aligns.
Morality is legislation.
And the country’s fate is spiritual.
You believe in “feeling led.”
In being “on fire for God.”
In hearing God’s voice.
In trusting your gut as confirmation from the Spirit.
You don’t follow popes. You don’t read catechisms.
You trust your Bible. Your pastor. Your prayer life.
Maybe a podcast. Maybe a Facebook group.
Maybe a bestselling book from a preacher you’ve never met.
But the theology?
Whatever resonates.
Whatever feels anointed.
This is not about ancient doctrine.
It’s about conviction.
Emotion.
Certainty.
You are right.
Everyone else is lost.
And time is running out.
