CHAPTER TWO

The Energy Body & Awareness Layers

SO HERE’S THE deal: You are not just a brain in a body. You’re a conscious system buzzing with perception, emotion, and awareness. Your body is the obvious part. The rest? People across cultures have described it as subtle layers of experience, kind of like a WiFi signal trying to push through a brick wall.

Welcome to your energy body, the way many traditions map the inner world.

In most traditions, your “self” isn’t a single thing. It’s layered like a parfait. Not literal anatomy, more like a model of how experience unfolds.

Here’s the common breakdown.

The Physical Layer: This one’s easy: your body, your bones, and your blood sugar crashes. The part that eats nachos.

The Etheric Layer: Described as the life-force matrix or blueprint in certain traditions.

The Emotional Layer: Where your moods and gut feelings seem to live.

The Mental Layer: Thoughts, beliefs, and loops. This is where your “stories” play, both conscious and unconscious.

The Astral Layer: Lucid dreams, meditation visuals, and those out-of-body-feeling moments.

The Higher Layers: Spiritual, intuitive, and peaceful. The “I just knew” zone.

These aren’t cut-and-dried compartments. They’re fluid, overlapping, and constantly dancing.

If your physical body is a car, the ‘energy body’ is the metaphor people use to describe the inner experiences we can’t see. It doesn’t just animate you, it communicates constantly. That ‘vibe’ you feel from someone? People have described that kind of intuitive read for centuries, whatever its cause. Your awareness is like a flashlight, and it can focus on any of these layers if trained.

Most people stay locked in the physical and mental zones, flickering between headaches and inner monologues. But meditation, breathwork, and deep rest start to pull you into subtler fields.

You don’t “have” an awareness. You are awareness. The question is, what layer are you driving through?

Focused on pain? You’re in the physical.
Drowning in feelings? You’re in the emotional.
Lost in thought spirals? Hello, mental layer.

But here’s the magic: the more awareness you bring, the lighter the layers get. That’s how you “climb” into the astral or beyond. You don’t escape the body, you expand your sense of where “you” ends.

When the layers shift, so do your senses.

Tingling in meditation?
Pressure on your forehead?
That “floaty” moment between sleep and awake?

It can feel like you’re brushing up against something beyond the physical story your brain normally tells. You’re stepping out of the story and into the signal. That’s not fiction, it’s function.

Right now, pause.

Can you feel your toes? That’s physical.
Notice your mood? Emotional.
What thoughts are buzzing? Mental.

Now ask: Who’s noticing all this?

That right there.

That’s awareness. And that’s the key to the whole journey.
