A New Light
TOMMY TUCKED THE lamp lamp into a cardboard box labeled “Old Stuff.”
He sealed it with tape.
He took a marker and wrote on the side:
“Do not wish. Just think.”
He looked out the attic window.
The rain had stopped.
A single beam of sunlight broke through the clouds and hit the street below, right where the flood of ice cream had once poured.
Tommy smiled.
He didn’t need magic.
He had wisdom.
And sometimes?
That’s the most powerful wish of all.
