The World Is on Fire

Chapter One - This Is Not Fine

Section 1 of 14

CHAPTER ONE

This Is Not Fine

YOU’VE SEEN THE memes.
Dog in a hat. Coffee cup. Flames everywhere.
“This is fine.”

But this?
This is not fine.

The world is breaking — in real time.
Not someday. Not maybe. Not a theory.

We are already living inside the climate crisis.
You just got used to it.

2023: The Hottest Year in Human History.
Until 2024 beat it.
And 2025? Yeah, we’re on track again.

Heatwaves that kill thousands.
Floods that drown cities.
Fires that turn the sky red.

From Lahaina to Libya, from Delhi to Dallas, climate change isn’t coming.
It already came.

But here’s the thing:

This isn’t just a chapter about doom.
It’s about the reveal.

The moment the mask slips and you realize the scale of the lie.

Because for most of your life,
you were told this was a problem for later.
Like a storm on the horizon.

But it’s not on the horizon.
It’s your backyard.
It’s your lungs.
It’s your grocery bill.
It’s your insurance rate.
It’s your disappearing coastline.

This is not a fire drill.

You want proof?

100° ocean temps off the coast of Florida.
That’s hot-tub water. Coral is dying en masse.
Canadian wildfires so massive they smoked out New York.
Not once. All summer.
Antarctica hitting record highs. In winter.
Phoenix topping 110°F for 31 days straight.
California snowpack flooding cities six months later.
Europe cooking at 116°F.
Crops shriveling. Old people dying. Air conditioners melting.

This isn’t a glitch.
This is the new code.

And this isn’t about a hot day here or there.

This is about systems collapsing.

The jet stream is wobbling.

Ocean currents are slowing.

Permafrost is melting and releasing methane, which warms the planet even faster.

It’s feedback loop after feedback loop.
One domino falls, the rest speed up.

And the scary part?
We don’t know where the stop button is.
We might have passed it already.

Earth has seen five major extinctions.
The sixth one?
It’s happening right now. And we’re causing it.

Species are vanishing 1000 times faster than normal.
Entire ecosystems are collapsing.
And humans, despite all our tech,
are not separate from that web.

We are part of it.
And it’s fraying.

You didn’t notice it happening because:

  • You were distracted.
    (Politics, culture wars, TikTok.)
  • You were lied to.
    (We’ll get to Exxon later.)
  • You were given fake solutions.
(Recycling isn’t going to save you.)
  • You were trained to numb out.
    (Because panic doesn’t sell ads.)

But the planet doesn’t care what you were told.
The feedback loops don’t care about vibes.
The heat doesn’t negotiate.

This book isn’t here to sell you hope.
Or sell you fear.

It’s here to tell the truth.
Clearly. Calmly. Coldly.

Because we are not living in the prelude anymore.
We are living in the fire.

And it’s not going out.
