CHAPTER THIRTY-SEVEN

THE AGRICULTURE WEB

IT’S NOT JUST about food anymore.
It’s about who controls the seed, the intellectual property of life itself.

Once upon a time, a farmer saved seeds from last year’s harvest.
Now, he signs contracts.
Now, he licenses genetics.
Now, he pays royalties to global biotech conglomerates who own the rights to what grows.

The old agriculture system, which was decentralized, regional, and messy, is mostly gone.
What replaced it is tighter, faster, more efficient… and more controlled than ever before.

Three companies now sit at the center of this web:

Syngenta, a Chinese-owned Swiss firm.
Corteva, born from the Dow-DuPont merger.
BASF, the German chemical giant that does everything from fertilizer to frankenfood.

Together, they don’t just sell seeds.
They engineer them.
Patented. Pesticide-resistant. Sterile by design.

These aren’t just tomatoes and soybeans anymore.
They’re proprietary organisms.

Why does that matter?

Because whoever controls the seed controls the harvest.
Whoever controls the harvest controls the farmer.
And whoever controls the farmer controls the food supply.

And it goes further.

These same companies sell the pesticides, the herbicides, the fungicides, and the software to manage the crops.
It’s not farming.
It’s a vertically integrated licensing operation disguised as agriculture.

And you can’t opt out.
Even organic farmers are affected because their crops can be contaminated by cross-pollination.
And once a patented gene is in your field, you’re liable.
You can be sued for theft of intellectual property… even if you didn’t plant it.

They’ve done it before.

The agriculture web is just that: A web.
It looks open, but it’s rigged.
A monopoly of genetics, chems, and contracts.

They don’t sell seeds.
They sell obedience.
