CHAPTER FIVE
The Skystone Path
PIP AND BUMBLE stepped onto the first floating stone.
It bobbed gently like a boat in calm water.
“Whoa…” Bumble whispered, wobbling.
“Don’t look down,” Pip said, looking down immediately.
Below them was nothing.
Not blue sky. Not green trees.
Just deep, deep cosmic purpleness, like velvet sprinkled with tiny sparkling lights.
The Skystone Path twisted and turned through the sky like a giant roller coaster track made of clouds and dreams.
Each step was an adventure.
One stone spun slowly in a lazy loop.
Another stone bounced like a trampoline.
One stone even sneezed when Bumble stepped on it.
(“Gesundheit!” Bumble said politely.)
As they journeyed upward, Pip started to feel… different.
Lighter. Brighter.
Almost like he wasn’t just a tiny pebble anymore.
At the very top of the Skystone Path stood an enormous archway made of stardust and feathers.
On the archway were glowing words:
“Only the truly brave may pass into The Valley of Rest.”
A soft voice echoed around them.
“Before you enter, leave behind what weighs you down.”
Pip and Bumble froze.
Leave what behind?
Bumble sighed first.
“I’ve always been scared I’m too big. Too clumsy.”
He touched his paw to the arch.
“Today I choose to believe I’m enough.”
Pip hesitated.
“I’ve always thought I was too small to matter…”
Then he took a breath.
“…but I’ve come this far. I believe I do.”
The archway glowed warm and gold.
The voice spoke once more:
“Welcome, brave travelers.”
The arch opened.
Soft mist curled around their feet.
The sky beyond shimmered gently like a dream.
Pip and Bumble stepped forward…
into the unknown.
