CHAPTER NINE

FREE WILL? LOL

YOU DIDN’T CHOOSE to read this sentence.
Your neurons did.
Or your habits. Or your dopamine system. Or some prior cause buried so deep in your past you’ll never trace it.

But you?
You’re not in the driver’s seat.

That’s the materialist view.
Free will is a bedtime story for meat that thinks it’s special.

Because in a universe made only of matter, every effect has a cause.
Every cause has a trigger.
And every trigger goes back… forever.

Which means:
Every choice you “make” is just the final domino in a chain you didn’t start.
You’re not deciding.
You’re reacting.

The song made you nostalgic.
The hunger made you angry.
The childhood trauma made you anxious.
The coffee made you talk too fast.

Every feeling, every impulse, every moment of “I chose this” is just a chemical firing at the right voltage with the right timing inside a skull you didn’t build.

And if you rewind the tape far enough, you’ll find that your big “life decisions” were never yours at all.

You didn’t choose your parents.
Or your brain.
Or your culture.
Or your language.
Or your trauma.
Or your favorite color.
Or the moment that made you who you are.

But somehow, you’re supposed to believe that this moment, this particular fork in the road, is different? That now, you’re finally in control?

That’s adorable.

The materialist model laughs at your agency.
There is no chooser.
Just choices being executed by flesh code.

You are not a driver.
You are a GPS watching the route happen.

So when someone says, “Why did you do it?”
The honest answer, under materialism, is:
“I didn’t. It just happened through me.”

And if you believe that?

Then morality collapses.
Responsibility evaporates.
Justice becomes theater.

Because how do you punish a puppet?
