CHAPTER THREE

Control Is a Lie, Let’s Go Swim Instead

MARLIN HAD ONE goal:
Keep Nemo safe.

And after what happened to his wife and all those eggs,
you get it.
You feel it.

He watched the ocean take everything —
so he tried to outsmart it.
Outplan it.
Outcontrol it.

No risks.
No spontaneity.
No fun.

Just… safety.

But here’s the kicker:
the ocean doesn’t care about your plans.

It’s vast. It’s wild. It’s alive.
And when Nemo gets taken,
Marlin’s perfect little control bubble?
Gone.

Enter Dory.

Blue, forgetful, chaotic, beautiful Dory.

She doesn’t plan.
She doesn’t worry.
She just says,

"Just keep swimming."

And Marlin thinks she’s crazy.

But somehow… she’s right.

Every time they surrender control,
something opens up.

A whale shows up.
A school of fish gives directions.
A sea turtle teaches him to chill.

The world responds when they stop resisting it.

So what if that’s the whole lesson?

What if life is less about locking everything down,
and more about letting go?

What if the goal isn’t perfect safety…
but perfect trust?

You can try to bubble-wrap your life.
You can try to control every outcome.
But life is the open ocean, baby.

There are sharks.
There are jellyfish.
But there’s also freedom.
Adventure.
Connection.

And sometimes all it takes…
is a Dory in your life who reminds you:

"Just keep swimming."
