CHAPTER TEN

Being a Giant Red Panda Is Weird but Kinda Fire

PUBERTY HIT DIFFERENT when it came with fur, fangs, and a family legacy the size of a skyscraper.

Meilin Lee just wanted to vibe with her friends, ace her grades, and maybe see 4Town live. But no. Instead, she wakes up one morning and turns into a giant red panda. Why? Because she got emotional. That’s right. Crying? BAM. Panda. Excited? Panda. Embarrassed? PANDA.

It’s like the universe handed her a megaphone for every feeling she ever tried to hide.

At first, everyone tells her the same old script: Get it under control. Suppress it. Lock it up.
But here’s the truth: that’s the problem — not the panda.

We’ve all got something like that inside us. Maybe it’s not ten feet tall and fluffy, but it’s loud. It’s messy. It’s overwhelming. Especially when you’re trying to be what everyone expects instead of who you actually are.

But Mei learns something powerful — she doesn’t need to banish the panda.
She needs to make peace with it.
Because that panda? That’s her power.

Not in spite of her emotions, but because of them.

She’s not broken. She’s just alive.
And being alive means feeling things — big, wild, sometimes inconvenient things.
Especially when you're growing up, figuring out who you are, and learning to love every version of yourself... even the ones that roar.

Let your panda out.
Dance. Scream. Cry.
Be loud. Be weird. Be you.

Because growing up isn’t about shrinking down —
It’s about expanding into yourself.
