Electricity 101
Prologue

PROLOGUE
YOU USE IT all day, every day.
Flip a switch, plug something in, press a button, and boom. Electricity.
But most people have no idea what it actually is.
Where it came from.
Who figured it out.
Or how the hell we went from rubbing amber with fur to running a global internet out of the air.
This book is not about memorizing names and inventions.
It’s not a science class recap.
It’s the real story of how humans slowly, painfully, accidentally figured out how to mess with one of the weirdest forces in nature.
It was always here.
Lightning, eels, magnet rocks, weird static zaps in the winter, it just took us thousands of years to realize those were all connected.
And once we did?
Game over.
Electricity built the modern world.
Not just lights and outlets, but computers, signals, cities, medicine, power grids, money, surveillance, entertainment, even thoughts.
Every system we run now is electric.
And the crazy part is, we still don’t totally get it.
We just learned how to ride it.
This is the story of how that happened. Step by step, spark by spark.
From ancient Greece to Tesla coils. From frog legs to fusion reactors.
From amber… to everything.
