Chapter Seventeen - 40,000 Ways to Be Right
Section 18 of 18
CHAPTER SEVENTEEN
40,000 Ways to Be Right
LET’S RECAP.
WE started with a Jewish carpenter in Galilee, a handful of disciples, a message of love, forgiveness, and a coming kingdom.
That message turned into Catholic cathedrals, Orthodox icons, Lutheran confessions, Presbyterian elders, Baptist baptisms, Methodist circuits, Pentecostal fire, Jehovah’s Witness charts, Mormon temples, Adventist veggie burgers, and a million non-denoms saying, “We’re not like the rest.”
Everyone quoting the same Bible.
Everyone claiming the same Jesus.
Everyone totally convinced they’ve got the clearest signal.
And yet, here we are.
40,000+ denominations worldwide.
Each one splintered off a splinter, interpreting the text just a little differently.
All in the name of truth.
All sincerely trying to follow God.
All absolutely sure they’re the one who finally got it right.
So, what do you do with that?
You can get cynical.
You can get overwhelmed.
You can throw it all out and say, “Forget it. They clearly have no idea.”
But maybe there’s another option:
See it for what it is.
Not a failure.
Not proof that any of them are fake or wrong.
But proof that humans are still, always, trying to reach something higher.
We debate.
We divide.
We rename, rebuild, and relaunch.
And in every denomination, you’ll still find people feeding the hungry, crying in prayer, wrestling with doubt, holding each other’s hands in hospital rooms, trying to forgive when it’s hard, and loving their neighbor without being asked.
Maybe the real story of Christianity isn’t about who's right.
Maybe it’s about the underlying signal that’s survived every schism.
The core that still whispers through every sermon, creed, and altar call:
“You are loved.
You are not alone.
And you are being called back home.”
Forget the labels.
Forget the splits.
Forget the charts.
Remember the spark.
