Bluster the Bloon and the Pebble That Stayed

Pebble’s Tips for When Someone’s Mean

Section 14 of 15

PEBBLE’S TIPS FOR WHEN SOMEONE’S MEAN

(OR WHEN YOU feel a little mean yourself)

  1. Everyone’s carrying something.
Bluster wasn’t mean just to be mean. He was floating too high to say why. Sometimes, big feelings make people act small.
  2. You don’t have to fix it. Just notice.
Pebble didn’t shout or scold. She just saw Bluster, really saw him. That made all the difference.
  3. Kindness isn’t quiet or loud, it’s steady.
Being kind doesn’t always mean smiling or saying the perfect thing. Sometimes it just means staying near when someone needs it.
  4. Ask before you add.
Before you join a game, a table, or a conversation, ask. That little pause can turn a pop into a welcome.
  5. If you float too high, find someone to anchor you.
When your head’s in the clouds or your feelings get too big, look for someone who helps you come back down.
  6. If you feel like the meanie… it’s okay.
Everyone has days where they feel grumpy or too full of feeling. You can always try again tomorrow.
