The present-day reference keeps the same physical geography and camera while the Roman extent is removed. Modern borders are context, not claims of continuity.
At 117 CE, only the Roman reconstruction is available. Blank areas are missing evidence in Atlas—not empty land, unclaimed territory, or absence of societies.
Whole-world historical coverage
The next source must describe states and dependencies across a whole region or world, with dated changes and documented gaps. CShapes is a strong modern-history candidate, but its noncommercial license needs clearance before JJU redistribution. OpenHistoricalMap is another candidate; each imported feature needs its own source, date and license checks.
